About this Scholarship

About This Scholarship

The MTN Ghana Foundation Bright Scholarship is one of the most significant corporate-funded educational support programmes available to Ghanaian students. Established by the MTN Ghana Foundation — the social investment arm of Ghana's largest mobile network operator — the scholarship has supported thousands of deserving university students across Ghana's public higher institutions over more than two decades. It reflects MTN Ghana's recognition that investing in Ghanaian youth education is fundamental to both national development and the long-term health of the digital economy that MTN itself depends on.

What makes this scholarship particularly valuable is its accessibility: it is available to both first-year undergraduates and continuing students, at any accredited public university in Ghana, and for any course of study — not just STEM subjects (though STEM applicants receive priority consideration). This makes it one of the few major corporate scholarships accessible to students who are already mid-program and facing financial challenges. The Foundation's explicit prioritisation of students from Ghana's underserved northern and western regions, women, and persons with disability makes it an especially inclusive award.

For about two decades, the MTN scholarship foundation has been awarding various sponsorship programmes to thousands of well-deserving across the African continent. Now Ghanaian youths are being supported by MTN Ghana Foundation to pursue various courses at different levels of education in Ghana through the Scholarship scheme.

The Scholarship is designed for Year one Undergraduate Students and Continuing education Students at any public Higher Institution in Ghana. The Applicant must be pursuing any course of choice.

Tips for Ghanaian and African Applicants

  • Priority regions are a real advantage: Applicants from Bono East, Ahafo, Savannah, North East, Western North, and Oti regions are explicitly prioritised. If you are from one of these regions, ensure your application makes this clear — it is a meaningful selection criterion.
  • STEM and digital fields receive first priority: ICT, Computer Science, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Analytics applicants are considered first. If you are in one of these fields, emphasise the relevance of your program to Ghana's digital economy.
  • Do not apply if you already hold another scholarship: The terms explicitly exclude students receiving other scholarship support. Applying while holding another award is a disqualifying misrepresentation.
  • Application window is February 1 to May 31, 2026: Submit as early as possible within this window. Contact mtnghanafoundation@mtn.com or WhatsApp 0549767070 for application guidance.
  • Women and PWD applicants are especially encouraged: The Foundation has made explicit commitments to gender equity and disability inclusion. If this applies to you, your application will receive additional positive consideration.
